The Madison Mallards and Night Mares are looking to add a new VIP dugout space to the Warner Park stadium beginning next season, according to the Cap Times.
Madison’s Board of Park Commissioners gave preliminary approval to the proposal, which would add 100 seats in the hospitality area, which will be 1,000 square feet, while losing 100 seats in the grandstand.
Madison and the Mallards came to an agreement in 2010, allowing the baseball outfit to use Warner Park. Per the agreement, any capital improvements to the park by the Mallards must be approved by the Board of Parks Commissioners, and the improvements belong to the city of Madison.
The Mallards and sponsors would cover the cost of construction, while the city would cover the cost of maintenance of the new space.
The Mallards have approval to begin making plans for the construction of the new area, with official plans to be submitted to the city for a secondary approval process.
Construction should begin this winter and be ready for the Mallards’ next season.
