A subsidiary of Madison-based TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS), TDS Metrocom LCC, has turned on two new fiber networks in Wisconsin — one in Dodgeville and the other in Mineral Point. The milestone brings some of the fastest speeds in the country to more than 180 customers across both communities.
Beyond up to 8-Gbps internet for residents and up to 10-Gbps dedicated connections to businesses, TDS’ expansion also brings a new TV and phone provider option for all customers. With the first areas launched, services will continue to roll out to addresses included in the builds as sections of the networks are completed.
TDS announced its plans to connect about 3,700 addresses across Dodgeville and Mineral Point in fall last year. Construction on the projects kicked off four months ago, and in June TDS presented checks for $3,000 to both the Dodger Food Locker and the Pointer Pantry to help combat food insecurity in both communities.
TDS also offers a low-cost service for qualifying Affordable Connectivity Program participants. Called TDS Connect, the product includes up to 200/200Mbps internet speeds and the monthly cost is fully covered by ACP benefit.
TDS recently revealed it is investing about a billion dollars to expand its fiber network footprint across Wisconsin. TDS has served customers for more than 50 years and now serves 32 states.
