Madison’s First Choice Dental acknowledged a recent “cyber incident” and said in an email statement that it is conducting an investigation, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The company, with locations throughout the city of Madison, is the third Wisconsin business to report system disruptions in recent weeks.
The dental care provider’s spokesperson said the company will provide updates as soon as information is available. Information regarding the nature and severity of the cyber incident has not yet been released.
Cyber incidents have increased in intensity since 2017 and particularly with the shift to remote work during and after the pandemic. Companies are advised to back up their data and invest in quality cybersecurity staff. Multifactor authentication and password managers can mitigate risk as well.
