Madison’s Encore Studio announces first show of 2023–24 season

Artistic Director Heather Renken announced in a recent press release that Madison’s Encore Studio for the Performing Arts will present the first show of its 2023–24 season, Navigating Well, beginning Sept. 22.

Navigating Well illuminates the intersection of disability and mental health. This collection of shorts explores the mental health journeys of people with disabilities and how they navigate a challenging health care system. The pieces offer a range of stories told in varied theatrical styles.

Pieces include “Not Always a Parent,” written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar; “… Yeah,” written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar; “Wait and Chill,” written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar and Wendy Prosise; “Dr. James,” written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar; and “Just Having a Bad Day,” written by KelsyAnne and Sarah Jo Schoenhaar.

Show times are Sept. 22–24, Sept. 29–30, and Oct. 1. Friday shows are at 8 p.m., Saturday and and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.

All performances take place at the Mary DuPont Wahlers Theatre at 1480 Martin St.

Suggested donations are $15 per person for general admission and $5 for students, seniors, and people with disabilities. Tickets are available online.
