A group of athletes is planning to fundraise for upgrading the Demetral Park running track into a USA Track and Field-certified track, according to an Isthmus report.
The cinder track would be transformed into a nine-lane, 400-meter track. No fundraising target has been set, but the expected cost is around $1 million.
Donations to the Eastside Community Track & Field Fund will be tax-deductible through the Madison Public Schools Foundation, the fiscal sponsor for the group.
