Madison comedy club Comedy On State canceled a sold-out Thursday night show featuring Jewish celebrity comedian Michael Rapaport, according to WSAU. Rapaport is known for his acting roles in shows and movies like Deep Blue Sea, Next Friday, The Simpsons, Only Murders in the Building, Friends, and Amazon Prime’s Fallout.

Rapaport was scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m., but the comedy club canceled the event due to safety concerns. The venue is only a short walk from the UW–Madison student encampment, and Comedy on State cited “escalating protests and the continuous nature of the dialogue surrounding current affairs” behind the show’s cancellation. Rapaport has been an outspoken supporter of Israel in the war on Hamas, now in its seventh month.
