Madison Gas and Electric and Alliant Energy have requested that regulators approve electric and gas rate hikes for 2022, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. If approved by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, the hikes could raise electricity rates by 5.9% and gas by 3% in the first year. Alliant Energy is requesting a 6.2% increase in electricity revenues and an 8.4% increase in gas revenue. Both companies have been able to keep rates flat since 2017.
