A meeting on Wednesday explored the proposed Beltline overpass from the city’s Perry Street connection study, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The study includes information on a proposed overpass, underpass or bike and pedestrian bridge to extend Perry Street across Madison’s Beltline, which was recommended by the South Madison Plan.
The city has yet to design options for Perry Street, but the estimates on cost range between $8 million and $18 million.
The study is supported by a $1 million federal grant that was awarded to the city in early 2024. And the city may apply for another federal grant after design work is done, which could pay for 50% to 80% of construction costs.
