Madison startup Allergy Amulet has raised $4.1 million in seed funding to expand the testing of its portable food allergen sensor device, according to a Milwaukee Business Journal report. The funding includes investments from AllerFund and Lightship Capital. Allergy Amulet has developed disposable test strips that can quickly determine whether a food contains particular allergens. Users collect a food sample into a USB-sized reader and are alerted of potentially harmful ingredients. The device can fit into pockets, clip onto a keychain, or can be worn as a necklace or wristband. The company’s beta launch will include peanut and soy testing to add more allergens.
