The Madison Metropolitan School District will help parents by expanding its tuition-free 4-year-old kindergarten programming for the 2026–2027 school year.
MMSD is adding new full-day, four- and five-day options to several of its schools and community sites like YMCA East.
“Our ultimate goal is to ensure every family has access to free, full-day 4K, five days a week,” Culleen Witthuhn, director of early learning, said in a statement. “This expansion is an important step in that direction and part of our Building for the Future work to create a more equitable, consistent early learning experience across the district.”
Full-day, five-day programming will be offered at both Paul J. Olson Elementary and Ray W. Huegel Elementary Schools. Shorewood Hills Elementary School will offer a full-day option Tuesday through Friday.
The full list of options can be found online.
