The Madison School District announced on Thursday that its elementary and middle schools will have new start and end times for the 2024–25 school year, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The biggest changes will happen at Chavez, Crestwood, and Thoreau elementary schools, which will start the school day at 8:25 a.m. rather than 7:35 a.m.
District high schools will retain their current schedules, but early dismissal on Mondays will be eliminated. Middle schools in the district will start at 9 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. on Mondays and 4:25 p.m. Tuesday–Friday.
The elementary and middle school schedules are as follows:
-
7:35 a.m.–2:30 p.m. (with 1:10 p.m. release on Mondays) for Elvehjem, Emerson, Franklin, Hawthorne, Huegel, Lapham, Leopold, Lincoln, Lowell, Marquette, Mendota, Midvale, Muir, Nuestro Mundo, Olson, Randall, Southside, and Stephens;
-
8:25 a.m.–3:20 p.m. (with 2 p.m. release on Mondays) for Anana, Chavez, Crestwood, Gompers, Henderson, Kennedy, Lake View, Lindbergh, Orchard Ridge, Sandburg, Schenk, Shorewood Hills, Thoreau, and Van Hise; and
-
9 a.m.–4:25 p.m. (with 2:45 p.m. release on Mondays) for Black Hawk, Cherokee Heights, Gillespie, Hamilton, O’Keeffe, Sennett, Sherman, Spring Harbor, Toki, Whitehorse, and Wright.
Badger Rock Middle School’s current 8:20 a.m.–2:20 p.m. schedule will remain unchanged. The changes return the district to a three-tier schedule that is aimed at remedying bus delays by staggering start and end times.
