Citing the decline in brick-and-mortar department stores, C.W. Carlson Co. will close later this summer after 34 years in business, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal. The closing will result in the loss of 49 jobs, including 22 people who were laid off on Monday of this week.

C.W. Carlson makes store fixtures for high-end retailers, and its customers have included Bloomingdale’s, Gucci, and Oscar de la Renta. However, in a notification letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, President Chris Carlson noted that customer orders had slowed in the past year.
