The city of Madison has been awarded nearly $270,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program to help improve roadway safety, according to a report from WKOW ABC-27.
The funds will further the work of Vision Zero and other city programs, including:
- Updating the city’s pedestrian plan;
- Updating the city’s bike plan;
- Updating school travel plans to ensure all schools have updated plans and to identify important safety improvements;
- Evaluating dangerous intersections; and
- Integrating post-crash care safety planning into Vision Zero policy and reviewing emergency responder response times
Madison is one of eight Wisconsin counties and municipalities to receive funding under the first round of SS4A grants.
