The Madison Reading Project is launching its annual book drive to raise $50,000 and acquire 2,000 new books before winter break.

Book collection bins can be found at shopping malls, bookstores and community organizations around town.

“We believe it is important for children to have access to new books that reflect their unique identities as well as open their eyes to others’ lived experiences,” Rowan Childs, co-executive director/founder of Madison Reading Project, said in a statement. “By supporting our Community Book Drive, you will help get thousands of new, high-quality books to kids, many of whom have few books in their homes.”

Books or funds can be donated.

The drive ends Dec.10, and the fundraiser is open until the end of the year.
