A recent CommercialCafe study sought out to identify America’s best cities for international students, ranking the cities based on three categories: international student community and support, affordability and green commuting, and fun and recreation. To reflect a fair comparison, cities were segmented into two population brackets: small to mid-sized and large.
Madison was ranked the seventh-best small-to-mid-sized city for international students in the country. Key findings include:

With 7.2% of its students coming from abroad, Madison places third in the top 10 for the share of international students metric, contributing to its fifth place in the community and support category; and

With 16.3% of its residents using public transit, walking, or biking to move around, Madison ranks third in the green commuting metric.
