Madison ranked No. 17 in top 25 US metros for life sciences

CommercialCafe ranked Madison number 17 among the top 25 U.S. metros for life sciences based on a comparison of 12 key indicators across three categories: the local talent pool, life sciences ecosystem, and the life sciences segment of the office market. The city earned a total of 19 points.

Other key findings included:

  • Nearly 10% of office space in Madison is dedicated to the life sciences sector, the fourth-best representation among the locations compared;

  • Twenty-six percent of Madison residents aged 25 or older have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in an industry-related field, which marked the fifth-highest density of educated talent in the ranking; and

  • The metro claims the 12th-largest life sciences real estate market in the ranking, with existing stock adding up to nearly 2.7 million square feet.

A total of three Midwestern metros placed in the top 25.
