A new study from CommercialCafe ranked the best mid-sized U.S. cities for Generation Z, evaluating those with populations between 250,000 and 400,000 based on several factors, such as internet cost, green commuting, employment for recent graduates, affordability, and places for recreation.
Madison was ranked the best mid-sized U.S.city for Gen Z with a total of 73.5 points. Other key findings include:

Madison came in second for the school enrollment metric, with an adult Gen Z educational enrollment rate of 64.6%, only behind Pittsburgh;

With 16.3% of commuters using public transportation, walking, or cycling to travel to work, the city ranked second for green commuting;

The city ranked fourth in terms of jobs for graduates, with jobs suitable for recently graduated young professionals making up 29.4% of the local job market; and

15.6% of Madison’s residents are Gen Zers aged 20–24, representing the largest share of this cohort among the top 20 cities compared for this ranking.
