According to a recent study by CoworkingCafe, Madison ranked ninth among the best cities nationwide to live without a personal car.
The city made the top 10 thanks to its bike usage, with 3.6% of the total population choosing to bike, and the city’s bike lane density, at 2.03 miles of bike lanes per square mile.
Madison falls in the top 20 cities across the country for the number of people who choose to walk to city destinations — 8.9% of residents — while only 7.1% of residents choose public transportation.
The city also registered 4.52 coworking spaces per 100,000 residents, helpful for workers who need a flexible workspace near their homes and shorter commutes.
