The opening of the Madison Public Market has been delayed to late fall, according to The Capital Times. Originally slated to open this July, the project has seen construction delays that have extended its timeline for completion.
The nearly $24 million public market will be located at 202 N. First St. in the city’s former Fleet Services building. The 45,000-square-foot warehouse has been under construction for over a year and is set to offer 30 permanent booths, food carts, event space and a commercial kitchen.
While the project remains within its budget, its certificate of occupancy — which the city expected to issue by Jan. 31 — is now anticipated to come by May 2, and the project’s general contractor has had to wait longer than usual to receive the parts needed to connect the building with Madison’s electrical infrastructure.
