Madison nonprofit Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin (LEBW) announced the launch of its Eye Disease Simulator App, a virtual reality tool designed to change how vision impairment and blindness is understood and addressed.
The technology was created by ophthalmologist Dr. Michael Ullman and donated to LEBW. The app allows users to experience the challenges faced by individuals living with vision impairment caused by common eye diseases with an immersive educational experience, offering insights into conditions such as corneal-related vision loss. It serves as a resource for training eye care teams, educators who teach students about eye health, anatomy, and the social impact of vision loss, and more.
Users are encouraged to:
-
Register as cornea donors; and

Make financial contributions to sustain sight-restoring programs.
Funds raised through the Eye Disease Simulator App will support the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin’s efforts to provide corneal donations and transplantation services.
