Madison topped the list for growth in technology talent in the CBRE Group’s fifth annual Scoring Tech Talent Report, which measures the change in tech job growth in “tech talent momentum markets.” According to CBRE’s study, Madison’s tech talent pool grew 30.2% from 2015 to 2016, an increase of 24.8% over the previous two years (2013–14).
Madison also earned high marks for:
- Growing its labor pool for jobs in software development, computer systems support, and technical engineering by 50% over the past five years;
- A millennial population that grew by 7.3% since 2010, accounting for 29.6% of the area’s total growth;
- The fact that 44.7% of people 25 or older in Madison have at least a bachelor’s degree; and
- Office rents increased 11% to $19.40 per square foot while vacancy rates dropped from 12.5% in 2012 to 8% in 2017.
