For the second consecutive year, the Madison Mini Half Marathon & 5K will be a virtual event, thanks largely to a UW–Madison COVID-19 policy that bans third-party events from campus, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The event, which winds through the UW campus, is scheduled between July 17 and July 25, which allows people to participate on their own. Thus far, nearly 800 people are registered to take part, but it normally attracts 3,500 runners to the campus. Race director Jeff Graves expressed disappointment because he had already received approval for a live event from the city but added that he hoped to hold a live event in 2022.
