Madison, Milwaukee achieve lukewarm rankings among best, worst cities for those with disabilities

Personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2024’s Best & Worst Cities for People With Disabilities, which aims to ease the process of finding an affordable and accessible place to live while managing a disability.

WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 33 key indicators of disability-friendliness. The data set ranges from wheelchair-accessible facilities per capita to the rate of workers with disabilities to the quality of the public hospital system.

Madison was ranked No. 44 with an economy ranking of 73, a quality of life ranking of 56, and a health care ranking of 66.

Milwaukee was ranked No. 85 with an economy ranking of 104, a quality of life ranking of 91, and a health care ranking of 60.

Both cities were ranked among the cities with the highest cost of a doctor visit.
