In what would be the first local construction project of its kind, the Madison Mallards baseball club would like to renovate its Duck Pond stadium at Warner Park with a new Great Dane Duck Blind section that would be constructed using 37 shipping containers. The proposed changes would be part of the largest renovation at the Duck Pond since the stadium was rebuilt in 2010.
“This renovation will allow us to deliver a higher level of customer service, fan experience, and fun to all our fans in the Great Dane Duck Blind,” Mallards General Manager Tyler Isham says in a press release.
According to the Mallards, the new Great Dane Duck Blind will feature 12 suites with indoor and outdoor options for groups of all sizes.
Level two will feature year-round climate controlled indoor space with outdoor stadium box seats holding groups from 30 to 225. This space will also be available for year round rentals.
Level three will accommodate groups from 30 to 200 and feature an indoor/outdoor patio with lounge furniture.
The fourth level will be an open-air rooftop suite with a metal roof and views for groups of 20 to 100.
Other features of the renovated stadium design are a second level suite area that cantilevers over the playing field, providing a shorter porch for home runs to land during games.
The Mallards said the general admission area would have three levels running parallel to the right-field foul line, with improved sight lines of the game and additional seating with bar rails, tables, stools, and chairs.
In addition, the general admission area will connect to the first level of the structure located behind the right-field fence that will feature a custom built bar and a rain protected view of games.
Only two of the Duck Pond’s structures would remain the same — the existing concession building and the Great Dane Duck Blind Club.
