Madison Justice Team, JustDane hosting panel on race, criminal justice

The Madison Justice Team, in partnership with JustDane, will host a panel discussion, “Breaking Down Barriers: Police Discretion, Charging Disparities, and Racial Dynamics in Criminal Justice,” on Jan. 17 at the Atrium, 2300 S. Park St. in Madison, from 5–8:30 p.m.

Panel participants include:

  • Jack Idlas, state public defender;

  • James Peterson, chief district judge of Wisconsin;

  • Douglas Maynard, professor emeritus of sociology, UW–Madison;

  • Ken Mosley, detective sergeant, South District, Madison Police Department;

  • Lanny Glinberg, UW professor of prosecution, attorney, and member of the Federal Defenders Services Board; and

  • Moderator Shar-Ron Buie, associate director, JustDane.

The panel and Q&A will run from approximately 6–7:30 p.m., followed by a networking opportunity. The Madison Justice Team will share its 2025 goals at the meeting as well.

There is no charge to attend the event, but registration is required.
