Having struck out with convention delegates, it looks as though Madison hotels will get some Democratic National Convention business after all.

According to a report in The Capital Times, convention organizers say that some members of national nonprofit and advocacy groups will stay in Madison during the July 2020 event.

While some of those groups’ leaders will lodge in downtown Milwaukee, and it is still unclear how many overnight stays will take place in Madison, most of the groups’ staff members will stay at unspecified hotels around Madison.

They will include civil rights and women’s rights organizations, gun-safety groups, and progressive think tanks.

Greater Madison was shut out of hosting state delegations to the 2020 DNC, as most will stay in metropolitan Milwaukee, elsewhere in southeastern Wisconsin, and in northern Illinois.

The convention will be held July 13–16 at the Fiserv Forum.
