Madison hotel group gives notice of mass layoffs

Middleton-based North Central Staffing Inc. of North Central Group has given two notices to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) that 71 employees at four hotels and another 75 employees at an additional six hotels are not being called back, as originally planned.

In the first notice,  the company explained that layoffs will affect 19 employees at Courtyard Middleton, 10 employees at Fairfield Inn & Suites Middleton, 31 employees at Hilton Garden Inn Middleton, and 11 employees at Residence Inn Middleton.

In the second notice, the company explained 28 employees at AC by Marriott Madison, 11 employees at Home2 Suites Madison, 12 employees at Hampton Inn & Suites Madison, 11 employees at Homewood Suites Madison, and eight employees at TRU Madison will not be called back. Most of the employees were placed on furlough in March with the intention that they would be called back within a few months.
