The city of Madison hired Chad Ruppel as the new housing director of the Community Development Authority (CDA), the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The CDA’s Housing Operations Division administers 742 public housing units and 115 multifamily housing units for low-income families, people over the age of 50 and individuals with disabilities at 40 citywide locations. Additionally, it administers the Section 8 housing choice vouchers that assist around 1,600 low-income Madison households.
Ruppel is currently the director of the Program Support Division in the Office of Housing Voucher Programs in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He will take up his new role on June 23 and is set to make $160,000 per year. Linette Rhodes will continue to serve as acting director until Ruppel begins.
