The Madison Specialty Care Free Clinic will celebrate its first 25 years of serving uninsured patients with an anniversary event on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1-3 p.m., at the clinic, 1409 Emil St., Madison.
A formal program begins at 2 p.m. with recognition of volunteers and donors, and there will be tours of the clinic.
The clinic, which does not receive government funding and is dependent on private donations, was established in 2001 by a group of local physicians.
It has grown to 60 volunteer physicians and other medical professionals who provide specialty care that is available to roughly 80,000 people in south central Wisconsin.
Twenty-five primary care clinics refer patients to the clinic, and healthcare service is available in 22 medical specialties including cardiology, gynecology and psychiatry.
