If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a Burning Ranger, the Madison Fire Department is now accepting applications through May 26.
The firefighter/EMT position requires no prior experience. Hiring for the position only comes around once every two years.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application (there is no maximum age limit). You must also possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
Successful candidates will participate in an academic and physical training program. Becoming a firefighter requires completing a 23-week recruit academy with all necessary EMS and firefighting certifications to begin responding to emergency calls as a firefighter/EMT.
