Madison secured its position as the nation’s most caring city, earning top-10 rankings in each of the three categories assessed in a recent study by WalletHub. The comprehensive evaluation, which aimed to identify cities where residents exhibit a strong sense of community and concern for well-being, encompassed nearly 40 metrics categorized into Caring for the Community, Caring for the Vulnerable, and Caring in the Workforce.

Madison’s remarkable feat of achieving top-10 rankings in all three categories catapulted it to the top of the list. Notably, the Wisconsin capital excelled in the Caring in the Workforce classification, clinching the fifth spot. This category evaluated factors such as community and social service employment, the presence of medical professionals, and staffing levels for schools and first responders. WalletHub highlighted Madison’s commendable fourth-place standing for Teachers Who Care for Students’ Well-Being, emphasizing teacher-student ratios.

The caring ethos extends beyond monetary contributions, with Madison residents demonstrating exceptional physical care for both fellow citizens and their animal companions. The city boasts the highest number of doctors and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) per 100,000 residents nationwide. Additionally, Madison clinches the fourth position for pet shelters and rescue services relative to its population size.
