A projected $2.6 million funding shortfall has caused Madison College (MATC) to reconsider plans to build a standalone Culinary and Baking Institute in downtown Madison. The college had intended to use leftover referendum money for the school, but bids were coming in at $14.6 million, creating the shortfall. Instead, MATC will renovate its existing downtown building at 211 N. Carroll St. to accommodate the school.
