A new, one-year technical degree program at Madison College will provide instruction on the fundamentals of electricity to provide students with a path to becoming an electrician or entering a related profession, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The program was launched in response to growing interest in the electricity trade and provides an option for students to learn about electrical technology without first entering a traditional apprenticeship. Students can gain experience and gauge their interest in the trade before deciding to pursue it as a career path.
The one-year program is funded by a grant that creates programs to train students for careers that are in high demand.
