Madison College has named Jack E. Daniels III as its new president, effective Aug. 19. Daniels has served as president of Los Angeles Southwest College since July 2006. Prior to that, he was president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill. for three years and Houston Community College System’s Central College for five years.

Janice Bultema, a Madison College District Board trustee who served as chair of the college’s ad hoc presidential committee, said Daniels’ proven record of focusing on student success, establishing a positive work environment, fostering collaborative relationships with the community, and serving as a motivational and visionary leader was key to the selection. Daniels replaces the college’s current president, Bettsey Barhorst, who announced her retirement in January. Barhorst will remain with Madison College throughout the transition.
