Madison-based First Supply, a wholesaler of HVAC, builder, plumbing, lighting, waterworks, industrial PVF, pump, well, and septic supplies, has partnered with global warehouse robotics provider Exotec to install warehouse robotics at its new 308,000-square-foot distribution center in western Wisconsin.
The move will help manage a growing variety of stock-keeping units, effectively utilize available space, and reduce labor-intensive manual picking practices. By automating its warehouse with Exotec’s Skypod System, First Supply aims to improve productivity and optimize resource utilization.
The distribution center can scale up its storage capacity by as much as 30% in the system. It will support all of the company’s branch locations in the Upper Midwest and supply direct-to-customer deliveries.
