The Board of Directors of Madison Ballet has voted to suspend the company’s performance season following its upcoming Repertory I performances at the Bartell Theatre. This will reduce the season from five productions to three, resulting in the cancellation of Peter Pan, a tour engagement in Springfield, Mo., and a second repertory performance in April.
Madison Ballet will continue other core programs, such as the School of Madison Ballet and the Movement in Your World outreach program, ensuring there is no interruption of these services to the community. In the next few months, Madison Ballet will focus on developing a restoration plan that reduces expenses through strategic partnerships and builds a foundation that supports the mission of the organization, a press release stated.
Despite strong past ticket sales, ticket sales account for less than 50% of the Madison Ballet’s budgeted revenue.
Subscribers to Madison Ballet’s season will be contacted by email and offered a full refund or credit on their account to future performances. Single ticket holders who have purchased tickets from the theater may contact the box office directly (Overture Center, 608-258-4141; or the Bartell Theatre, 608-661-9696) to obtain a refund via the same method of payment as the original transaction.
Additional information will be available on Madison Ballet’s website at www.madisonballet.org. Other ticket inquiries can be made to tickets@madisonballet.org or by calling 608-278-7990.
