Adventure Day Camp, a Madison-area summer camp, has announced the cancellation of its 2024 season due to the recent theft of multiple pieces of outdoor equipment, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. Director Nick Wilkes reported the missing equipment last Thursday upon discovering that the trailer housing the items had been taken from a rented spot in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church parking lot at 2450 Atwood Ave.

Madison Police are currently reviewing digital evidence, but no arrests have yet been made. The stolen items include 15 high-end mountain bikes, 18 stand-up paddle boards, and an unknown quantity of camping equipment.

The camp has served local youths for the past eight summers, with 10 sessions that emphasize physical activity and environmental awareness. In addition to the problems posed by the equipment theft, the camp has faced a shortage of qualified instructors.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to provide a tip. Information can be shared anonymously.
