A coffee shop from restaurateur Christopher Berge is set to open in Blue Mounds on noon Friday, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The new spot at 2969 Main St., Obert-Alvin, is named for Berge’s grandfathers and currently has one employee.
Berge’s brother, Finn Berge, co-owns Greater Madison’s Barriques Coffee Roaster and Cafes. Obert-Alvin will sell Finn’s coffee, along with bakery items and salads and sandwiches with locally sourced produce. In the future, the business will also offer event and vacation rental space.
Obert-Alvin marks Berge’s first project since selling The Weary Traveler Freehouse — which he co-owned for two decades — two years ago. Berge also co-founded the former Blue Marlin, the old Restaurant Magnus, Barriques, Nattsppil, and the former Cortadito Express in the old Cardinal Bar.
