Madison area offers several Independence Day celebrations

Residents in the Madison area looking to enjoy fireworks and festivities this week will have a number of nearby options, according to the Capital Times.

The Madison Mallards will host a Festival Foods’ fireworks show at the Duck Pond at 2920 N. Sherman Ave. beginning at 9:30 p.m. tonight after the Mallards game. Tickets are available to purchase online for a Warner Park outfield viewing of the show; the show will be visible from outside the stadium for free.

Monona Community Fest, which began Sunday, July 2, will continue through July 4 at Winnequah Park at 5301 Healy Lane. The event will feature live music, food carts, carnival rides, and a variety of activities. Admission is free; today’s hours are 12 p.m.–midnight, and tomorrow’s are 9 a.m.–midnight. Fireworks will take place on Tuesday at dusk.

The Village of Waunakee will host its annual WaunaBoom! event at Ripp Park at 213 Dorn Drive from 2–10:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The event is free of admission and will feature live music, a bag toss tournament, a Black Hawk fly-in by the 147th Aviation Regiment at 2 p.m., and an F-35 flyover by the 115th Fighter Wing at 6:15 p.m. Movies in the park will show from 3:30–9:30 p.m., and fireworks will be at 9:45 p.m.

The Village of Maple Bluff will hold its yearly Fest on the 4th celebration at Beach Park at 409 Lakewood Blvd. from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday. The day will kick off with a 5K race and include a parade at 10 a.m. to be followed by a 9:30 p.m. fireworks show.

Shorewood Hills will host a day of festivities across the village Tuesday, including a morning triathalon and a children’s parade at 12:30 p.m., among other activities. A fireworks show will take place at the Blackhawk Country Club at 3606 Blackhawk Drive at dusk. Admission is free, but donations for next year’s show are encouraged.
