Madison area gears up for Independence Day celebrations

The following events will come to the Madison area in celebration of Independence Day, the Wisconsin State Journal reports:

Saturday, June 29

  • “Festival Foods Lights the Isthmus” will come to Madison’s Breese Stevens Field, 917 E. Mifflin St., from 6–10 p.m., with local bands, food, beverages, games, prizes, and a fireworks display.

  • The Rigby Pub, Grill and Event Venue at 119 E. Main St. will host a free-to-attend “Rooftop Firework Watch Party” at 6 p.m.

Sunday, June 30

  • Sun Prairie’s Angell Park at 315 Park St. will host a fireworks celebration.

July 3 and later

  • The Monona Community Festival will come to Winnequah Park July 3–4 with live music, carnival rides, team trivia, a cornhole competition, an art fair, a car show, drag bingo, fireworks, food carts, beer and wine, and more.

  • The DeForest Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce will host a celebration at 300 Jefferson St. July 3–4 with pony rides, a DJ, inflatables, a rock wall, activity booths, an athletic event, a car show, a parade, bingo, artist booths, food, beer, and a U.S. Air Force aerial flyover.

  • The village of Shorewood Hills on July 3 will hold an Independence Day dance at the fire station on 1008 Shorewood Blvd., and on July 4 will host the 15th annual Tri-It mini triathlon at Shorewood Pool, a village art fair, a children’s parade, a family picnic across from the fire station, and a fireworks display at Blackhawk Country Club.

  • The 98th annual Stoughton Fair will run July 3–9 with a petting zoo, agricultural events, a truck and tractor pull, food eating contests, a stunt dog show, camel rides, a fireworks show, and more.

  • Madison’s The Edgewater hotel will host its annual Fourth Fest on July 4 with live music, family-friendly activities, and Lake Mendota water shows from the Mad City Water Ski Team.

  • A “Pedal and Paws Parade” on July 4 will come to Madison’s North Star Park at 502 North Star Drive with goodie bags, face painting, and balloon artists.

  • “Fest on the 4th” in Maple Bluff will start with a 5K race, followed by a parade, a festival at Johnson Park, a softball game, and fireworks at Beach Park.

  • Middleton’s Walter Bauman Aquatic Center will host a Fourth of July pool party on July 4 with games, contests, and concessions.

  • The family-friendly WaunaBoom celebration will come to Waunakee’s Ripp Park, 213 Dorn Drive, on July 4 with live music, food carts, activities, and a fireworks display.
