The Brewers Association held its annual Great American Beer Festival over the weekend in Denver. The event includes one of the nation’s largest beer festivals, as well as an awards ceremony.
Madison area breweries won two bronze medals, a silver and a gold.
ALT Brew and Vintage Brewing Co. both earned bronze medals in the Gluten-Free Beer and Oatmeal Stout categories, respectively, for Ice Bucket and Scaredy Cat. Vintage’s oatmeal stout is a repeat medal winner, having won gold in 2024.
New Glarus earned a silver medal in the Belgian-Style Sour Ale category for Vintage 2025. Those interested in trying it can attend the beer’s release on Friday at the New Glarus gift shop. It will not release anywhere else and is expected to sell out quickly.
New Glarus hadn’t submitted a beer to GABF in a few years and only sent two beers this year for judging, according to a social media post from the company.
Untitled Art won the lone gold in the Specialty Non-Alcohol Beer category for Mango Dragonfruit Sour.
“Madison Area Craft Beverage Producers is immensely proud of these four breweries for elevating our regional brewing reputation on the national stage,” said Rory Nienajadlo, president of MadBev and Vintage Brewing Co. director of operations, in a statement. “Their medals at GABF 2025 are a testament to dedication, creativity and the collaborative spirit that defines Wisconsin’s craft industry.”
Overall, 273 breweries and cideries won 347 medals this year. Over 8,300 beers and ciders from 1,550 establishments were entered into the competition.
