According to the Wisconsin State Journal four Madison-area beaches were closed last Friday due to unhealthy water conditions. Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) made the announcement Friday due to elevated levels of bacteria measured last Thursday.
Updates on the PHMDC website confirm three of the beaches, Esther Beach, Olin Beach, and Schluter Beach, remain closed at this time. Maple Bluff Beach Park, located on Lake Mendota, was closed due to blue-green algae observed Thursday but is now open, according to the PHMDC website.
