Sun Prairie-based KONTEXT architects LLC, owned by Kelly Thompson, is merging with Architecture Network Inc. of Madison, owned by Arlan Kay.
Kay helped save some important buildings in the Madison area over the years — The Cardinal Bar, Fess Hotel (redesigned for the Great Dane), Quivey’s Grove, and many others — and also served as Thompson’s mentor early in his career. Thompson will continue to run both studios, but under the name KONTEXT architects.
Kay is retiring, but plans to continue offering his services on a limited basis, and to projects or missions he has a strong personal interest in.
