The Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) has announced it will be hosting its second annual Fall Career Day on Wednesday, Oct. 4. MABA previously held its first Fall Career Day in October 2022.
The event provides students an opportunity to see all the stages of a residential home build. Building industry volunteers will showcase their trades through presentations and hands-on demonstrations at the Acacia Ridge development in Madison, a Veridian Homes development.
MABA will host over 150 students from eight local schools. Students will begin at a completed home at 9432 Tawny Acorn Drive in Madison and discuss the building process with a new home specialist and realtor; then they will move from land surveying through rough framing to finish carpentry. In total, students will tour eight homes and see demonstrations including concrete foundations, framing and exterior siding, electrical, drywalling, and trim carpentry.
The Madison Area Builders Association is dedicated to educating younger generations on the benefits of a career in the skilled trades and allowing students to familiarize themselves with local trade companies. In addition to Career Day events, the Madison Area Builders Association has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County to raise $35 million toward the creation of the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center, which opened in July.
