Middleton-based Lucigen Corp. has been awarded a $1.5 million federal grant to continue work on a gene cloning technology that could be useful for researching human disease, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The technology could allow Lucigen to expand from tools for working with bacterial proteins to other disease-related areas, the biotech company said.
Lucigen has raised $2.2 million from investors this year, according to a March filing with federal securities regulators. The company received the Phase II grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health.
