The Milwaukee-based Lowlands Group is slated to open it first Madison location, a Café Hollander at Hilldale, on Thursday, Oct. 15. It will kick off its presence in Madison with a “Bikes+Kids+Food Grand Opening Benefit,” with 100% of food sales going directly to four local Madison charities: Community Groundworks, Dream Bikes, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, and Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.
The new café is located along a pedestrian walkway between Target and the entrance to Macy’s and features a four-season rooftop deck, an interior courtyard with a retractable glass roof that allows for a patio-like experience year-round, and a large sidewalk patio.
Café Hollander will be open with limited hours of operation and seating Oct. 15 to 18, during which time they’ll be serving selections from their lunch, dinner, and brunch menus, to benefit four local charities. The bar and upstairs patio will be open to the public during this time for beverage-only service. Starting Monday, October 19 it will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including a full brunch on weekends.
Café Hollander focuses on from-scratch, seasonal food and also sponsors many local cycling events and organizations. It aligns itself with charities that have programs that focus on bicycles, kids and food.
Due to the limited seating during the benefit, reservations are recommended. Walk-ins will be accepted if capacity allows. Everyone is invited to check out the new space while enjoying a Belgian bier or craft cocktail at the large bar or upstairs patio, which will be open to the general public during the event, but not offering food service. Dining reservations for the benefit can be made at www.cafehollander.com/hilldale/.
