Some low-income students at UW–Madison could receive discounted housing with the city’s approval, according to NBC15.
Madison’s Finance Committee on Monday approved a resolution for a possible new development on the 400 block of West Gorham Street. Students receiving federal student aid (FAFSA) would be eligible to rent as much as 10% of the building, which would amount to around 170 residents, at a 40% discount.
The city’s Plan Commission and Common Council will still need to vote on the resolution. UW–Madison’s Office of Student Financial Aid and the building owner will reach an agreement regarding student eligibility to rent.
