The leader of a Madison STEM camp for neurodivergent children is seeking new grants and partnerships to sustain the program following a federal funding loss that may otherwise end it, according to WMTV15

Dr. Michael Notaro, director of the Center for Climatic Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, launched the program several years ago and created three STEM camps. They have been held in Madison, Beloit and Wisconsin Dells.

For years, the camps were supported in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Their grant was terminated this year, however, as the camps were considered to have a diversity, equity and inclusion aspect “by supporting neurodiverse youth,” Notaro said.

Private donations will fund the camps through this summer, but their long-term future remains unclear. To learn more, visit the Center for Climatic Research at UW-Madison.
