Madison developer Steve Brown Apartments plans to construct apartments on a downtown lot that has been empty since the demolition of a previous apartment building on the site in 2008, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The spot at 126 Langdon St. has seen at least four redevelopment proposals that have failed to receive approval, the most recent of which was Core Spaces’ seven-story Hub II.
The latest proposal includes a five-story building with 75–80 units that, in contrast to the Hub II plans, would not require exceptions to the city zoning code. The building would offer by-the-bed rental options catering to students but also be open to nonstudent renters. It could open as soon as summer 2026 if approved.
