Local teacher to get $50K prize for excellence in skilled trade education

Madison educator Miles Tokheim, who teaches automotive at Vel Phillips Memorial High School, on Tuesday will be awarded a $50,000 prize recognizing excellence in skilled trades education.

Tokheim is one of 25 winners of the 2025 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.

In total, Harbor Freight Tools for Schools is awarding $1.5 million to skilled trades teachers nationwide.
